Overview

Perlane injectable gel (aka Restylane Lyft) is a cosmetic filler that contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance that is found in the body. HA gives volume and elasticity to the skin, but as the body ages, HA levels decrease, resulting in loose skin and wrinkling. When injected, the gel is designed to plump up the skin, adding significant volume to the cheeks, temples, jawlines and chin. Dr. Gordon is one of 3% of doctors qualified as an ExpertInjector™ by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). Highly qualified in this field, Dr. James Gordon has an artistic eye and skilled injection techniques to give the best results.

Perlane vs. Restylane?

The difference between the two is that Perlane gel, although similar in consistency to Restylane gel, contains larger particles, which are better at filling deeper depressions. Perlane injections are used for moderate-to-severe lines around the lips, nose, mouth and forehead. It is also used to volumize the temples, cheeks, jaw and chin.

About The Procedure

During the initial consultation, Dr. Gordon will listen to the patient’s concerns and their expectations, as well as their full medical history. Once Dr. Gordon and the patient have decided on a treatment plan that includes Perlane, he may be able to perform the injections the same day in his minor procedures room. Most Perlane treatments take 20 minutes or less, but this depends on the amount of syringes needed.

During/After The Procedure

Once Dr. Gordon has carefully injected the needed areas of the face with Perlane, the patient will be able to leave as soon as they feel comfortable. While patients may continue their normal activities, strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. Patients should return for a follow up appointment in 1 – 2 weeks so Dr. Gordon can assess the treatment’s progress and treat any lingering side effects.

Perlane FAQs

Perlane Vs. Restylane?

The difference between the two is that Perlane gel, although similar in consistency to Restylane gel, contains larger particles, which are better at filling deeper depressions. Perlane injections are used for moderate-to-severe lines around the lips, nose, mouth, and forehead.

Is It Painful?

For greater patient comfort, Perlane-L includes lidocaine in its formulation to decrease the amount of pain felt during the injections. In general, patients have little to no pain or discomfort during the treatment, but patients should speak to Dr. Gordon about pain relief during the consultation to decide what’s best for them.

Commonly Treated Areas?

Since Perlane has larger particles and can be injected deeper, Perlane treatments work best on severe facial wrinkles and folds. Dr. Gordon often uses Perlane on the nasolabial folds (the curved lines around the mouth) with great success.
